Feb 11, 2012
We were tired and slept in today. We did not get out of bed until around quarter past eight! We had to wake up Sofia and I think Evie was just about to wake up when I went in to get them. We got up and had breakfast after that we got ready and went down to the shoos. Me and the girls started and Jessica hung yesterday's laundry out and then came after us. Sofia and I went to the park. While I was certain it would be a bit wet I thought it would be fun for her to have a quick play. It was soaking in places, but we could still go on the swing and the beetle. As we walked around the corner Sofia started giggling and running. It was good to hear and see her so happy. We were only there for a little while before we met Jessica and went to the shops. After shopping we stopped by number thirty for some tea. It was already eleven so we were soon on our way home for lunch. After lunch I whippersnipped the grass along the fence and will mow it tomorrow. As I was doing that it started to rain so I quickly got all the laundry in. It was still damp. After about an hour of heavy rain it cleared up again and I hung the laundry back out. I did a few other things and had fika. Right before dinner I went out and got the laundry in again, it was now dry. I then went in and cooked dinner. During dinner we spoke to farmor and farfar as usual for Saturdays.

It was raining properly this morning. It did not prevent me from making the train though which was good. On the train in Ryan and I executed our first byte code! Very exciting times, for the first time we tied our pieces together and it worked, sort of. True it seq faulted but it did execute the first couple of byte codes! At work I had meetings and stuff happening leaving only short gaps here and there to do work in. But it was good. On the train home I continued to tidy up my parser to make it return all bits needed for proper execution. The evening was just a quiet evening in which was nice.

I got up and just made the train in the morning, I did not have to run but still not a lot of time to spare. The weather was still just not raining but as close as it can get to rain without actually raining. At work I did 20% which was good, I got stuff done which was good. Nothing really interesting happened though. The weather was still bad. I left just in time to make the 4.53 train home. In Glenbrook it was raining, such bad weather lately. At home I spoke to farmor Ulla as usual.

The weather was continuing to be crappy in the morning. It was nearly raining that kind of drizzle that hangs in the air and makes you damp. The train was on time which was good. Work was as work is most. I paired with Joe for a good part of the day fixing things up. Nothing really interesting happened. Ryan and I decided to go on the 4.24 as we were walking, in the drizzle, Ryan realised he had forgotten his keys on his desk, so back we walked. We arrived to Central at 4.23, a slim chance of catching the train, so what did we do? Well we ran for it of course! We came up the stairs as the guard blew the whistle. We got in the closest door and just made the train. It was the same kind of weather in Glenbrook. But in good news my purple tentacle t-shirts had arrived! (I hear you.. you people who do not know about purple tentacle.. either too young, or too old.. so just do an image search on google for it, and educate yourselves). Mikka went to the doctor today. He most likely has kidney failure, however his quality of life is good still (so he is not in pain, and he is not aware) so we did nothing. But he will progress and when he stops eating we will need to do something about it.

It was almost raining in the morning, but it was not, which was good. The train was a couple of minutes late though. At Central I spoke to Ryan about how cold it was in Europe right now and he goes 'You'd need some seriously thick shorts' when he heard about the sub -20 temperatures. Work was pretty slow and boring, nothing interesting happened. During lunch I went for a walk and had a quick look at laptops and I also bought a case fan for the computer at home. In the afternoon we had our usual status meeting. It ended on time which was good for me. In Glenbrook it was drizzling again, we've had enough rain now! After the girls were in bed I installed the case fan, and boy did it make a difference! I wrote a program to max the CPU, before the fan the temperature on the CPU was steady on 54 degrees. I installed it and ran the same program again, it now ran steady around 38 degrees. That is good. I also think the case in general will be cooler which is good for everyone in there.

I got up and made the train today. I snoozed on the way in. At work it was really business as usual. I kept working on the importer. Nothing really interesting. I also updated a few of the performance builds. Again the day was not very interesting. At home Sofia was bursting with stories. Unfortunately they all came out a bit incoherent and mixed up. It was entertaining to listen to though. Nothing really to repeat here.

We were both very tired in the morning and I did not manage to get up until seven thirty or maybe even twenty to eight. The weather looked overcast again, but we still put on a load of laundry, and also a loaf of bread. At around ten thirty we went over to number thirty for some morning tea and computer support. We were back home again for lunch. By then the weather had cleared and it was quire warm, but above all humid. We hung the laundry and then I went out again and mowed the backyard. It was very hot to do in the sun, but boy was it needed. After I was done with that I came in and gave poor Mikka a bath. He seemed to enjoy it, but the attention afterwards was even better! We had fikka while I was drying Mikka, we even used a hair-dryer today and he did not seem to mind. After fika, Bryan came over and fixed our toilet. Soon after that it was time to cook dinner. After dinner we went out and got said laundry and Sofia was very pleased to find that the grass was short, and quickly declared it "running grass" and promptly ran all over it. Once back inside both girls got a bath and then it was off to bed for them.

We got up at six thirty today, and while Jessica showered I had breakkie I then went and woke up the girls. I soon got Sofia up. Once the girls were up it was a busy time until we left the house at around eight. We got down and caught the eight twenty train to the city. It was running slow so I think we were a few minutes late into Central. From there we caught an ever delayed train around the City Circle to Town Hall. From there we went and found Naomi and had morning tea with her. Then we walked to Town Hall and went to the Lego exhibition there, called 'The Art Of The Brick'. It was interesting but a bit expensive for what it was I think. We also bought some Lego for Sofia which she loved as she carried the bag with her for the nearly three hours it took  until we were home. As usual we had lunch on the train home. At home it was hot and humid. We didn't let that stop us, but went out into teh garden to hang laundry. I noticed that our potato plants had died, so I harvested them. It was hard work. In the end we got around 1.5kg of potatoes which is pretty good. In the evening we spoke to farmor and farfar as usual for Saturdays.

It was still raining this morning. I made the train though, so that was good. I snoozed on the way in. At just before Strathfield I started to merge my changes to the ones Ryan had made earlier. I got it mostly working. At work I was trying to squeeze a 700mb export into a 512mb instance. At the end of the day I managed to get it to complete (so it imports a 700mb zipfile with pages and attachments, and the instance only has 512 mb ram). Still some small issues with it, but they are solvable. I had lunch with Partha today, which was good. It is always interesting to talk to people other than the normal gang. On the train home I watched the final episode of Samurai Champloo. It was raining in Glenbrook as well.

It was raining again this morning, but I still made the train. I continued work on the train in. At work I spent some time fixing up the build I've been meaning to set up for some time now. I got it running. I also spent time working on the importer and paring with Don to fix a bug we introduced yesterday. The day was pretty crappy and wet. On the train home it was more work. In Glenbrook I was met by Bryan and we went and picked up a box of potatoes and other things we needed from the fruit shop. We then drove home and had dinner. I spoke to farmor Ulla as usual for Thursdays.
